Here at HOMEFIELD, we’ve got some hard-core EGG-heads on staff. Occasionally we’ll fire up one of our demo Big Green Egg grill and fix our favorite recipes. Here’s one from our New Braunfels, Texas General Manager, Jason.

Here in Central Texas, we prefer Shiner Bock for this recipe, but you can use any Bock beer you like. The Chicken Tickler Rub is from John Henry’s East Texas Seasonings, but again, you can use your favorite rub recipe to make this simple chicken recipe your own.

Jason’s Bock-A-Licious Old Fashioned Chicken

  • Olive Oil
  • Chicken Tickler Rub
  • 1 Bock Beer
  • Yellow Onion
  • Fresh Garlic
  • 1 Sittin’ Chicken Ceramic Roaster

Set the EGG for indirect cooking with a ConvEGGtor at 250°F. Use wood smoking chips for desired flavoring (cherry & apple recommended). Pour beer into the Sittin’ Chicken ceramic roaster along with freshly cut onion and garlic. Cook the chicken on the roaster for an estimated 30 minutes per lb. or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F.
